Faith-Based Services & Volunteer Programs

Faith-Based & Volunteer Coordinator

Leticia Chavez-Paulette

We appreciate the hard work and dedication of our volunteers who serve our inmates and returning citizens. Our volunteers are an invaluable resource to our department as they provide programming that focuses on changing criminal behavior and mindsets which are extremely beneficial to their rehabilitation process.

We recognize the importance of our volunteers having access to the volunteer handbook and application process that will assist you in serving with confidence in our correctional facilities. Listed below are the volunteer handbook and application packets for two (2) types of volunteers:

  • Initial Application Packet -this packet is only for volunteers who haven’t completed a face-to-face volunteer training in the past year. If you have completed a face-to-face volunteer training in the past year, you must complete the Renewal Application Packet instead
  • Renewal Application Packet —this packet is only for volunteers who have completed a face-to-face volunteer training in the past year. If you haven’t completed a face-to-face volunteer training in the past year, you must complete the Initial Application Packet and the in-person training at a correctional facility prior to volunteering.
  • Volunteer Handbook
  • Volunteer Training – The in-person volunteer training is only needed for either NEW volunteers or volunteers who haven’t complete training since January 1, 2016. All other volunteers need to complete the above Renewal Application packet and send to the facility you primarily volunteer at to continue to maintain your volunteer status. If you are unable to attend the summer and quarterly training sessions in Albuquerque, please contact your facility chaplain at the below email, address and/or phone number for the training dates that they are providing at each of these facilities.
